Rotary Club remembers Kevin and George

Tree ceremonies for Kevin Mierzejewski and George Vaubel

Ada Rotary Club recognized two former members with tree planting ceremonies on Friday in the Ada park.

A tree in memory of Kevin Mierzejewski and a tree rededication in memory of George Vaubel took place.

A Norway pine was planted in memory of Kevin, who died Jan. 19, 2018. Rotary members offering comments about Kevin said that he had a love for people and a great sense of humor. He launched the club’s bowling fundraiser, now named in his honor.

It was noted that he was also a member of Ada Lions, which demonstrated his interest in the community. He was also a successful businessman. His daughter, Angela, attended the ceremony.

A tulip tree was rededicated in memory of George, Ohio Northern University professor of law, emeritus, who died Jan. 31, 2011. Rotary members offering comments of George said that he joined the club in 1963. He was a great asset to Ada, was dedicated to Rotary, his church and the law profession.

It was noted in a humorous way that he was a Cincinnati Reds fan. His wife, Claire, also a Rotary Club member, participated in the rededication.
