Ada's best kept secret - ReStore's new name

Tuesday 3:30 p.m. doors open with new name revealed at the time

The staff, volunteers and board of the ReStore Community Center invites
the community to join in celebration Tuesday, Sept. 10, as the Center celebrates its grand reopening and rededication under its new - and yet to be announced - name.

The decision was made by the ReStore’s board of directors to rename the center earlier this summer to differentiate itself from other national charities.

“(The ReStore) was born out of a feeling of love, and a desire to reach out an assist those in need,” Robert Kanzig, executive director, said.

“The hope always has been, and always will be to show any in need the love
and compassion demonstrated by Jesus Christ.”

Kanzig said that the ReStore has done an excellent job of this, and as a result has grown both in size and scope. A place that once touched people in Ada, now serves most of the other communities in Hardin County.

Since the center exists only through the generosity of others, this expansion requires the ReStore expand its donors to others outside of Ada.

The ReStore name, while serving the center and its mission well for the past
decade, has created some confusion between the center and Habitat for Humanity, which also uses that name throughout the area for their building
supply stores.  Many believe by supporting Habitat for Humanity they were
also supporting the ReStore and its efforts.

Great care, consideration, and thought have gone into the center’s name,
to find something that reflects the ReStore’s mission and nature.

“This is not about abandoning the past but about celebrating it,” Kanzig
said.  “We wanted something reflects who we have been, who we are, and who
we hope to become in the future.”

The center will open its doors at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 10.  A ribbon cutting will be
held at 4 p.m., with dinner beginning to be served immediately afterwards. The
new name will be revealed at that time.
