School asks parents to drop students off in AM in foyer or school office

Announcement in September school newsletter

The September Ada school newsletter is on Ada Bulldogs Facebook. Here are some of the highlights.

Parent drop-off change: For the safety and security of our students and staff, beginning Monday, Sept. 9, the parent drop-off point for students in the morning will only be the foyer or office.

Parents will no longer be permitted to accompany their child to their classrooms. If a parent needs to speak with a teacher, they will need to make an appointment through the office secretary.

School fees: School fees should be paid as soon as possible. If you have any questions please contact the office.

Bulldog Backpack Blessings Program
The local food pantry has offered Ada students in grades K-5 that qualify for the Federal free lunch program the opportunity to participate in their Blessings in a Backpack Program.

This program will send meals home for your elementary student(s) each Friday for the duration of the school year. The goal of the program is to give a child food over the weekend, increase attendance on Fridays, raise test scores and help our students live an even healthier lifestyle. We plan to begin distribution sometime in September, and will post a notice on our website when we are set to begin.

With our current economy, many families are struggling to make ends meet. This program is designed for families with genuine needs and is completely optional. If you would benefit from this program, please return the bottom portion of this form to the cafeteria and we will add your name to the distribution list. You may discontinue this program at any time by contacting Mr. Thaxton.

The school will discreetly put the non-perishable food in each of your child’s(ren’s) backpack(s) on Fridays during their lunchtime/recess (when students are out of the room).

Ada Friends Program
In partnership with ONU, the Ada Friends Program partners an Ada K-8 student (Little) with an ONU student mentor (Big). Applications were sent home with students grade K-6 on Friday. Applications are due back by Tuesday, Sept. 17.
