Gary Hauenstein worked at JM Sealts for 30 years

Gary Eugene Hauenstein, 69, died Jan. 21, 2020, at Lima Memorial Health System, Emergency Room.  

Gary was born Nov. 21, 1950, in Allen County, Ohio to the late Kenneth and Lucille (Klingler) Hauenstein. On June 26, 1976, he married Joyce Michel Hauenstein who survives.

Gary served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict where he received numerous medals. He worked at JM Sealts for 30 years, Eley Excavating for a few years and since 2008 has been a millwright at High'sWelding, Inc. Gary was a lifetime farmer, starting as a child working on the family farm and instilled the love of farming into his son, Matthew.  

Survivors also include a son, Matthew (Dawn) Hauenstein of Cridersville; a daughter, Barb (Matthew) High of Ada; seven grandchildren, Autumn, Summer and Spring Hauenstein, Trent, Riley, Pearson and Colton High; three brothers, Edgar (Janice) Hauenstein of Montpelier, Leland (Cherymae) Hauenstein of the Philippines, Kenny (Vicki) Hauenstein of Columbus Grove; a sister, Jeannine Tate of Lima; a brother-in-law, John (Deanna) Michel of Columbus Grove and a sister-in-law, Charity Guinther of Bluffton.  

Gary was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Hauenstein; a grandson, Clayton Pearson and a brother-in-law, Tim Michel.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 28, at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton. Pastor Robert Evans officiating. Burial will be in Rockport Cemetery following the service where military rites will be performed.  Visitation will be Monday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
