Ada schools offer two learning options for 2020-21

• On-campus • Home-instruction (online)

Students attending Ada schools have two learning options in 2020-21, according to Meri Skilliter, superintendent. Those options were released today and are listed below:

Option 1: On Campus
• Return to school as normal on Friday, Aug. 24, five days a week within the regular classroom setting following the Ada Schools Restart Plan.

• Partner with us to educate students on how to properly wash hands and use hand sanitizer.  Check your student’s temperature prior to attending school each day.

• If we have to transition to district-wide remote learning, our students and teachers will continue their courses online.

Option 2: Home-Instruction (Online Learning)
• This option will be used to serve those students and families that may have chronic or underlying medical issues.  It is also an option for families who have a reluctance to return to school due to COVID-19.

• Participation in this option through our school district allows students to remain a student of Ada Schools and to participate in extracurricular activities.

• Those who choose to do online learning will only be permitted to resume on campus learning at the end of the first semester.

• All instruction will be delivered through an online learning platform.

••Students grades K-5: Calvert Learning through Edmentum

•• Students grades 6-12: Plato Courseware through Edmentum

•• All online learning courses will be taught and/or coordinated by an Ada teacher.

•• The elementary and high school offices will work with families to register students.  Students may not have all the same course options as are available on campus.

• If your student is on an IEP, they will continue to receive services.

• A Chromebook will be provided from the district for the purpose of online learning.

• In order to be successful in online learning, students must be committed and have self-discipline. Students who do not log on, or whose parents do not monitor their work will have a difficult time being successful in this learning environment.

• Parent support of learning should be expected.  Younger learners will require an adult at home to commit significant time daily to supervise and support their student.

• If you are requesting Option 2: Home-Instruction (Online Learning), complete the request doing the following: Click on this link. It takes you to the Ada school website where you have an option to open the "Restart 2020 Learning Options Survey."

(Please note: The Icon does not provide a direct link because persons taking the survey need permission to do so; The Icon does not have that permission.)

Please notify the school district by completing the Restart 2020 Learning Options Survey if planning to utilize Option 2 by Monday,  Aug. 10.

We understand the difficult decisions faced by our community and families in this challenging time.  We believe in the strength of our community and school to overcome them together.
