Lady Bulldog spikers knock off Wildcats

DELPHOS - The visiting Ada volleyball team beat Delphos Jefferson to capture their first league match Thursday evening.
The 25-20, 25-27, 25-20, 26-24 win lifted the Lady Bulldog overall record to 7-6 and 1-3 in the Northwest Conference. DJ fell to 4-8 and 0-3 in the NWC with their eighth consecutive defeat.
"It was a hard fought game with a lot of heart and hustle from both sides," said Ada third-year head coach Kyleigh Tabor.
"Delphos was really scrappy defensively and kept the ball alive. Our hitters hit really well tonight and put the ball away. Megan was unstoppable in the middle with 17 kills. Miranda and Kylie both had nine kills to add to the offense.
"Our defense stepped it up after the second set, and we pushed to finish in the fourth," she added. "Iím really proud of the fight that we had tonight, it was a great win."
Senior Megan Light led Ada with 17 kills, 11 digs and two blocks. Senior Miranda Wills amassed 14 digs, nine kills and served a season-high six aces.
Senior Kylie Acheson hustled up 13 digs and drilled nine kills.
Bulldog junior Kirsten Poling passed out 35 assists, hit four kills, came up with 16 digs and added two blocks. Sophomore Courtney Sumner mustered 19 digs and added four kills.
Junior Lexi White mustered up 11 digs.
The Bulldog reserves lost 2-0 to drop to 4-9.
The Bulldogs (4-2 home) host Carey in a non-league match Saturday, September 26. The JV match starts at 10 a.m.
