West Ohio Food Bank comes to Ada on Wednesday

Distribution at ONU stadium • 38,356 pounds of food handed out in September

The October West Ohio Food Bank's Hardin County food distribution takes place from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the Dial-Roberson Stadium on the ONU campus, according to Jason Aldrich.

Enter on Klingler Road. To received food persons must be 18 or older, have a valid photo ID and proof of residency, be at or below 230 percent of the federal poverty guidelines and sign and eligibility to take food home form.

The most recent food distribution was on "Hunger Action Day" Sept. 10.

During the event, 100 families, most from Hardin County, were served. The West Ohio Food Bank distributed 38,356 pounds of food during the afternoon.

Aldrich asks that participants have their trucks or truck bed cleaned out as volunteers will not move items to load food into vehicles.

West Ohio Food Bank, based at 1366 E. Kibby St., Lima,  serves an 11-county area.

Previous Hardin County food distributions took place at the Hardin County fairgrounds. Aldrich said that the bank’s monthly distributions moves from community to community in its service area and chose Ada as this month’s distribution location for the county.

The county’s distribution is sponsored by the food bank and United Way of Hardin County.
