Ada principals express appreciation to staff, students, community for cooperation to remote learning transition

Ada’s school principals have expressed appreciation to the school staff, students and community for their cooperation in the transition from in-person learning to remote learning this fall.

Their remarks were made at the Nov. 19 Ada school board meeting.

The school made its transition to remote learning on Nov. 2. and it will continue at least until Dec. 4.

In mid-November the school announced covid-19 data. That data included 8 active staff cases, with 4 recovered, for a total of 12 cumulative staff cases. There were 5 active student cases with 6 recovered for a cumulative total of 11 student cases. And, 23 total staff members and 193 students have had to quarantine at one time or another.

The follow report includes some action from the November  meeting and is not officially approved board minutes.

November board action
Several supplemental winter coaching contracts were approved. In addition, the board approved an agreement for use of the Hardin County Family YMCA pool for 2020-21.

Contracts were issued to:
Aaron Acheson, varsity assistant boys’ basketball coach
Michael Allen, 8th grade boys’ basketball coach
Travis Wireman, 7th grade boys’ basketball coach
Zachary Beaschler, assistant swim coach
Klintisha Martin, volunteer varsity assistant girls’ basketball coach.
Jessica Keckler was issued a classified contract for 2020-21 as a 5-hour educational aide.

Jean Conley and Sharon Shaw were approved for retroactively re-mapping bus routes for 2020-21.

Sara Bryan of Ada was approved as a substitute educational aide for 2020-21.

Superintendent Meri Skilliter told the board that she will meet with the Ada park board at 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, in the board room.

The Nov. 19 meeting included 33 minutes of open session and a 1 1/2 hour executive session.
