Barrette Jones, Jacob Bassitt January Kenton Elks honorees

Both seniors are active in school and community organizations

Barrette Jones and Jacob Bassitt, Ada High School seniors, are the January Elks Ada teenagers of the month.

Barrette Jones
Barrette is active in many school activities. These include student council, cheerleading, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor Society, Varsity Singers show choir, Language Club, Film Club, Ada vocal ensemble, track, and junior class officer.

Other experience includes representative to Buckeye Girls State, VBS teacher, gold scholar athlete, cheerleading captain, pin-in-forward recipient for leadership and positivity, and was invited to cheer at a Cleveland Cavalier’s game through the United Cheerleading Association.

During the summers of 2017 and ’18 she was a detasseling employee at Buckeye Hybrid Farms. She also has experience as a cheerleading instructor.

Following graduation she intends to attend the University of Findlay and major in early childhood education and minor in special education. She is the daughter of Bridgette and Scott Jones.

Jacob Bassitt
Jacob Bassitt is also involved in many school activities. These include Varsity Singers show choir, high college credit plus,  Drama Club, swim team, marching band, concert band, pep band and winter guard.

He is also a member of the Wild Steelions steel drum band, First United Methodist Church youth group, Boy Scouts and ONU steel drum band.

He has served as student council vice president and in Boy Scout Troop 124 as a patrol leader and scribe. He’s worked as a lifeguard at the Ada pool, as a host at Viva Maria’s and at Country View barn, a family business.

Following graduation is considering attending either the University of Cincinnati or Ohio Northern and hopes to major in biology, minor in computer sciences and work toward obtaining a physician’s assistant license. He is the son of Jeff and Ann Bassitt.
