Women's soccer OAC defensive award to Kristy Catrine

Here’s an update on ONU women’s soccer.
Junior Kristy Catrine (Springboro) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of March 16-22.

This marks the second consecutive week that Catrine has received the honor.

Catrine had two one-save shutout in her second and third career starts in goal last week as the Polar Bears (3-0-0 overall, 3-0-0 OAC) won twice on the road, beating Baldwin Wallace 1-0 and Muskingum 6-0.

Catrine has not allowed a goal in her career and has a 273-minute scoreless streak ongoing.

The Polar Bears will return to action Thursday with a 7 pm contest at home with Wilmington.

ONU vs. Baldwin Wallace
BEREA — Senior Siena Ward (Newport Beach, Cal./Newport Harbor) scored Ohio Northern's winning goal as the women's soccer team defeated Baldwin Wallace 1-0 on the road Thursday night at Finnie Stadium.

With the win, ONU improves to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while BW drops to 0-1, 0-1.

Junior Kristy Catrine (Springboro) had 1 save in goal to post her second shutout of the season in her second career start. 

With 9:14 remaining in the first half, senior Sydney Leshnak (Cincinnati/Mount Notre Dame) sent a free kick to the goal where Ward took a shot that was saved, then scored on her rebound.

In the last 29:25 of the game, the Ohio Northern defense stood tall by only allowing one Baldwin Wallace shot.

The Polar Bears out-shot the Yellow Jackets 15-3.
