6 ONU wrestlers Scholar All-Americans

 Six Ohio Northern wrestlers were named Scholar All-Americans for 2021 by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.

Juniors Jordan Hardrick (Dayton/Wayne) and Connor Kwiat (Bloomville/Tiffin Calvert), sophomores Ben DePrest(Louisville, Ky./Saint Xavier) and Chase Sumner (Ada) and freshmen Devon Harbison (Beloit, Wis./Turner) and Ross Rayfield (Delta) all earned the honor.

Hardrick is a three-year starter at 165 pounds and went 2-2 this season. He is 41-27 in his career and was named Second Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference as a sophomore in 2019-20.

He is majoring in pharmacy.

Kwiat went 0-1 this season and has a career mark of 34-32. He placed sixth at the NCAA Division III Regionals in 2019-20 at 174 pounds.

He is a manufacturing technology major.

DePrest had a breakout year in 2021, going 3-1 with one pin and a major decision at heavyweight after wrestling at 184 and 197 as a freshman a year ago. He was named All-OAC this season.

He is 14-13 with six pins in his two-year career at Ohio Northern.

DePrest is majoring in forensic biology.

Sumner was ranked No. 5 nationally at 149 pounds and finished the abbreviated 2021 season with a perfect 4-0 record. He also had two pins and a tech fall in those four victories. He was also named All-OAC this season.

He is 41-6 with 13 pins and 4 tech falls in his two seasons as a Polar Bear.

Sumner is a biology major.

Harbison was the starter at 125 pounds this season and posted a 4-1 record with two pins.

He is majoring in mechanical engineering.

Rayfield was the starter at 141 pounds and finished the year with a 4-1 record and two falls.

He is an education major.

The Polar Bears finished second in the OAC with a 3-1 team record this season under 33rd-year head coach Ron Beaschler.
