Softball: Pitcher/slugger Dalton leads All-NWC Ada selections

ADA - Versatile Ada senior Leona Dalton was named first team All-Northwest Conference for softball in voting conducted by the league coaches Monday evening.
Dalton won 13 games and struck out a school single-season record 239 batters over 151 innings this spring. The workhorse hurler completed 23 games.
Dalton also led the team offensively. She compiled a .448 batting average by knocking out 35 hits. She scored 32 runs, led the team in slugging pct. and drove in 35 runs to lead Ada in all five categories.
She also smacked a team-best eight home runs and 11 doubles, and added two triples with 14 stolen bases. Dalton plans to play at UNOH next spring.
Senior southpaw catcher Alexis Waugh was named second team all-league. Waugh batted .371 with 26 hits, 24 runs scored and 15 runs batted in.
She slugged seven doubles, four triples and one home run.
Senior center fielder Tori Green and freshman DP/utility player Daicy Robinson were voted honorable mention all-conference.
Leadoff batter Green batted .370 with 33 hits, and posted an on-base percentage of .562. She also led the team in stolen bases and collected 15 RBI.
The slugging Robinson batted .355 with 27 hits, six doubles and 16 runs batted in.
Lancer senior Destiny Coil was named NWC Player of the Year, while Dalton finished in the top three of the league POY voting.
Lincolnview (8-0) won the league title with its 4-3, extra-inning victory over second-place arch-rival Crestview (7-1) in the regular season finale showdown May 10.
Paulding took third at 6-2, followed by Allen East (5-3) and Columbus Grove (4-4).
Ada ended up tied for sixth with Bluffton and Delphos Jefferson at 2-6 in the NWC. The Bulldogs finished 13-12 overall.
Winless Spencerville came in last.
Ada's Morgan voted 2nd team NWC honors
ADA - Ada senior shortstop Jacob Morgan was named second team All-Northwest Conference for baseball in voting conducted by the league coaches Monday evening.
The Bulldogs finished 1-7 in the NWC and 7-14 overall.
Senior second baseman Jacob Poling and sophomore pitcher Roman Snyder earned honorable mention all-league notice.
Morgan was also named second team all-district. Making honorable mention all-district were Poling, Tyler Jameson and Snyder.
Lincolnview won the NWC title with an 8-0 record, followed by Paulding (7-1).
Columbus Grove and Allen East tied for third (5-3), followed by Delphos Jefferson (4-4), Spencerville and Crestview (3-5), Ada (1-7) and Bluffton (0-8).
