Ada spikers downed by defending champ Lancers
Visiting Ada was swept by two-time defending league champion Lincolnview in the Northwest Conference volleyball opener Tuesday evening, September 14.
The Lady Bulldogs dropped to 1-8 overall and 0-1 in the NWC with defeat.
The Lady Lancers improved to 7-1 and 1-0 in league play with the 25-8, 25-7, 25-6 win.
It was Lincolnview's 17th consecutive victory in conference play. The Lancer spikers have posted an 8-0 record in NWC play over each of the past two seasons.
Bulldog junior Courtney Sumner came up with four digs, two kills and one block to pace Ada.
Sophomore setter Autumn Andreasen passed out four assists and came up with five digs.
Senior Lexi White mustered five digs, and classmate Selena Jordan knocked down one kill.
Sophomore Josie Phillips contributed five digs, and Mariah King hit for one kill. Ada sophomore Daicy Robinson added one kill and one block.
Lancer senior hitter Kendall Bollenbacher surpassed the career 1,000-kill mark in the victory. She drilled a match-high 17 kills, and she also came up with 11 digs.
Lincolnview junior Breck Evans served up five aces and passed out 13 assists. Freshman Ashlyn Price doled out 16 assists.
The Lancer junior varsity won 2-0, and they also took the freshman contest to capture all three matches in the tripleheader.
The Ada reserves are 3-7, while the Bulldog freshmen are 0-2.
The Bulldogs try to stop a seven-match skid when they play another league match at Columbus Grove (2-3) Thursday, September 16.
