Bulldog grapplers pin Falcons

The Ada High School wrestling team won a dual match and lost one at a triangular event against local rivals Kenton and Riverdale in a match at Mt. Blanchard on Tuesday evening, February 15.

The Bulldogs lost a close match to Kenton 34-24, but defeated meet host Riverdale decisively 36-18.

Ada started out ahead of the Wildcats 12-0 after wins by Liam Vieira by pin at 54 seconds at 120 lbs., and a forfeit for Rowan West at 126.

Josh Arnett won a forfeit at 150 lbs. for Ada, as did Chase Caldwell at 157 to put the Bulldogs back in front, 24-16. But Kenton rallied to score the last 18 points on two pins and a forfeit to capture the match.

Against Riverdale, Vieira earned a forfeit at 120 and West won at 126 with a pin at 3:09. Forfeits to Trevor McGue (138), Arnett (150) and Caldwell (157) advanced the Ada lead to 36-0.

The Falcons won the last three bouts, two by pin and one via forfeit, to close the final gap to 36-18.

The Bulldog matmen are back in action at the Northwest Conference championship meet Friday in Bluffton.
