Men's Lacrosse opens 2022 schedule with 13-4 victory at Alma (Mich.)

Eleven different players scored goals as the Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team opened its 2022 season with a 13-4 victory at Alma (Mich.) on Saturday, Februarty 19 at Bahlke Field.

The Polar Bears (1-0 overall) got two goals each from junior Alex Reimer (Lancaster, N.Y. ) and sophomore Aiden Dempsey (Silver Spring, Md./St. John's College) and one goal each from nine other players in the win.

Junior Riley O'Neal (Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) had a goal and two assists for a team-high three points on the day.

Northern scored five first period goals to lead 5-1 and took an 8-2 lead into intermission.

Junior Cole Zaferakis (Liverpool, N.Y.) had two saves and allowed two goals in the first half to pick up the win in net.

Ohio Northern out-shot Alma (1-1) 48-20 and held a 37-25 advantage in ground balls.

ONU forced AC into 35 turnovers while committing only 20 and each team won 10 faceoffs.

The Polar Bears will return to action next Saturday when they open the home portion of their schedule with a 1 pm contest against DePauw (Ind.) at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
