August 11 event celebrates farm community

The West Central Ohio Land Conservancy (WCOLC) will host Preserving Ohio Country from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on August 11, at the Lauer Historical Farm, 800 Roush Rd., Lima. The celebration of our farm community includes an entertaining program that highlights "the most valuable resource in west central Ohio⎯farmland." Organizers invite you to "learn how we can work together as a community and what you can do yourself to help preserve Ohio country."

The speaker for the evening will be radio and TV personality Dan Wilson. Wilson will provide what promises to be a fast-paced and humorous look at his life-long connections with Ohio agriculture and how he came to be the host of “In Ohio Country Today.”  Wilson is also an advocate for farmland preservation.

He will also facilitate a panel discussion on farmland preservation featuring: 

  • Ohio Speaker of the House Bob Cupp 
  • Ohio State Representative Susan Manchester
  • Allen County Commissioner Beth Seibert

WCOLC will also share success stories about preserving more than 2,700 acres of prime farmland and the need for continued support from state and local government.  

The event takes place at the scenic Lauer Farm, a Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District facility that includes arestored barn,. ABC Concessions Food Truck will be available for refreshments.
