Donald Bryan served in the U.S. Navy

Donald Franklin Bryan, age 65, of Ada, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023, at his residence, surrounded by his family.  

He was born on April 2, 1958, in Lima, Ohio to the late Paul and Helen (Brinkman) Bryan.  Don married Tamara Lee Brumett in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 17, 1979 they were married for forty-four years.

Don is survived by his wife, Tammy Bryan of Ada; their two children: Alicia Lee (Kenny) Gibson of Ada and Nicholas Paul (Sara) Bryan of Ada; four grandchildren: Alivia Gibson, Cash Bryan, Ace Bryan and Kelley (Megan) Gibson; three great grandchildren: Kasen Gibson, Ivy Gibson and Zoey Gibson; two sisters: Rebecca (Chris Haggerty) Bryan of California City, CA and Paula (Harry) Miller of Van Wert; and stepmother, Sandy Bryan of LaFayette; and three sisters-in-law: Tracie Marshall, Tina Numbers and Teresa (Bruce) Music. 

He was preceded in death by his sister, Tina Davilla; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Marshall and Alice Brumett; and brother-in-law, Greg Brumett. 

Don retired in 1997 from the U.S. Navy after twenty-one years serving from 1976 to 1997.  During his service he was a cook and Navy Recruiter, he also furthered his education during his military career. After his service in the Navy, Don worked for the U.S. Postal Service. He retired after working for twenty years as a postal carrier.  Don also worked for Bryan’s Butcher Shop. Don was a graduate of Ada High School class of 1976. He was a member of the Ada VFW Post #9381 of Ada and the Moose Lodge #428 of Kenton.  Don was an avid fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes and he enjoyed playing cards with friends.   Don was most proud of being a husband to Tammy, a father to his children and a grandfather to his beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren, his love for them was never ending.  Don will be greatly missed, because he was deeply loved.  

The family request Ohio State or casual wear be worn for services.

Funeral services will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023 at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Ada with Pastor Thomas Dearth officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard and the Ada VFW Post #9381.   

Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service on Friday, October 20 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Ada. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ada Academic Boosters and/or the Ada VFW Post #9381.
