The Ada Community Improvement Corporation held its second meeting for 2023 at the Ada Depot in October. The meeting is an opportunity for board members and stakeholders to discuss developments in the village and to conduct business “for the sole purpose of advancing, encouraging, and promoting industrial, economic, commercial and civic development of our Ada Community and Area.”

Board president Jamie Hall noted that construction of the new Wilson Factory has been fast tracked and could be done by the first part of spring.

Holli Underwood, Director of Economic Development at Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance, Inc., noted that equipment from Harvest Pride, a former business in the Grass Run industrial park, has been sold. The property at 604 E Montford Ave, Ada is available. The board discussed opportunities to market the property and noted that there is no signage advertising the property.

Remax describes the property as follows: This 23797 sq. ft freestanding light manufacturing warehouse has it all. Built in 2012 on 3.815 Acres. Warehouse area consists of 19206 sq ft.

Office area consists of 2400 sq ft with multiple conference rooms, private offices and bathrooms with showers. Highlights include: 2 drive in doors, 2 dock wells, Wet sprinkler system, 2 (25 Ton) AC Condensers, Gas Heated Building, Multiple channel drains, Ceiling Height 31'6''on Center, Side Wall Height 24', 3 phase electric, lots of parking for employees and customers. Located next to WIlson Football Manufacturing (NFL) and their new 80,000 Sq Ft. plant expansion.

Vice-president Deb Curlis noted that Beatitudes has beautified the alley behind the shop in preparation for having Old Route 69 as a backyard neighbor. She also reported on commercial activity including:

  • A new owner for the restaurant at 105 S. Main St., formerly 3 Brothers Pizzeria.
  • The closing of the beauty shop at 228 N. Main St., Platinum Hair Design. It was unknown if the building is for sale.
  • The nutrition business at 117 E. Lincoln Ave., No Limit Nutrition, has closed.

There was some discussion about what could be done in response to buildings that have water damage that aren’t being addressed by the owners.

Conversation also included the need to do something with funds remaining from the Water Resource project that have been unused for 25 years. There is also money contributed for the Town & Gown event that has not been scheduled for 2023. An inquiry about housing parcels available resulted in a discussion of where the village has prepared to extend water service.
