OTTAWA__The Ada High School swim teams dove into their season opener by finishing third at a five-team meet including Bath, Upper Sandusky, McComb (boys only) and Bluffton on Thursday, December 7, at the Putnam County YMCA.
Bluffton narrowly won the boys meet by three points over Upper, 79-76. Ada was third with 39, followed by Bath (25) and McComb (17).
The Rams won the girls meet with 101 points, with Bluffton second at 87. Ada was third at 43 points, ahead of Bath (25).
“We got a lot of personal-bests already and are maintaining where we left off last year,” said second-year Ada head coach Ashley Robey. “The new swimmers did great at their first meet, and we had three girls out sick.”
Lady Bulldog junior Lily Baumgartner won the 200 individual medley and the 500 freestyle.
Ada senior Jack Baumgartner won the 500 free. Freshman Tim Chrissobolis took second in the 100 breaststroke.
Sophomore Lydia Demascio took third in the 100 backstroke and 50 free races.
Ada swims Saturday in the 14-team Napoleon/Wildcat Invitational.
