By Cort Reynolds

NORTH ROBINSON__The Ada High School boys swim team finished a strong third at the Colonel Crawford Sprints meet Saturday, January 20.

The Bulldog boys totaled 201 points to end up behind first-place Margaretta (440), which edged Colonel Crawford (436) by just four points. St. Paul Norwalk (97) and Wynford (54) came in behind the Bulldogs.

The Ada girls ended up a solid fourth out of eight teams with 133 points. Meet host CC rolled to the girls title with 638 points, while Margaretta (447) was second. Norwalk finished third (323).

“Everyone was able to score points and performed very well,” said Ada head coach Ashley Robey.

“We had a lot of heat winners and high-placing,” she continued. “This is always a fun meet because they can compete in shorter races, and there was a lot of close finishes.

“It was very fast-paced and I’m impressed with their times for not having much rest between their events,” she added.

Ada finished fourth in the combined girls/boys team standings with 334 points. CC won the combined boys/girls title with 1,074 points. Margaretta was second (887), and St. Paul came in a distant third (420).

The Ada boys 200 medley relay team of Jacob Szippl, Tim Chrissobolis, Jack Baumgartner and Kaden Clum finished second in 2:08.29.

Szippl captured second in the 50 backstroke (31,4) and finished fourth in the 100 freestyle (60.7)

Sophomore Lydia Demascio took second in the 50 backstroke (33.01) to post the top Lady Bulldog individual showing. She also finished fifth in the 100 individual medley (1:17.7)

Freshman Chrissobolis touched third in the boys 100 individual medley in 67.05. He also ended up third in the 100 breaststroke (1:19.39).

Sophomore Alyssa Nau was fourth in the 50 breaststroke (38.11), with classmate Jordyn Smith right behind her in fifth (40.19).

Nau also came in third in the 100 breaststroke (1:24.51). Smith touched eighth in the 25 freestyle (14.49).

Clum also finished eighth in the boys 25 free (13.59).

Sophomore Sam Crawford ended up fifth in the 50 backstroke (41.85).

Ada swam without ace Lily Baumgartner. “Lily and Madi (Baldazo) were unable to swim at the meet,” said Robey.

The Bulldogs are back in the same pool next weekend when they compete at the NCOSL conference meet hosted by Colonel Crawford Saturday, January 27.
