MT. CORY__The Ada High School baseball team lost 4-2 in a non-league contest at Cory-Rawson Thursday evening, March 28.

The defeat dropped the youthful Bulldogs to 0-3, while C-R improved to 1-0 with the win.

Ada rallied with a run in their final at bat in the seventh, but came up short.

“We are going to go through these types of games with our youth,” said Ada second-year head coach Toby Smith. “We played well in two of the three phases of the game.

“Our hitting is going to come,” he continued. “It just won’t come quickly enough for what our kids want. They will continue to improve and compete.”

First baseman Max Puerto amassed two hits, three stolen bases and scored the early run to lead the Ada offense.

Mason Wibley knocked out two hits and drove in one run to go with a steal. Junior outfielder Kaine Fisher added a hit, stole a base and scored one run.

Freshman catcher Andrew Allen and freshman Wes Mowery each singled to provide the other Bulldog hits. Junior shortstop Levi Green drew the lone Ada walk.

The Bulldogs out-hit C-R, 7-6.

Freshman reliever Brody Rister pitched a scoreless sixth inning with two whiffs.

Hornet hurler Blake Boehm pitched a complete game on 105 pitches (84 strikes) to earn the win. He allowed seven hits and one earned run in seven innings.

Boehm struck out 16 Bulldogs and walked one.
