Ada Methodists united in historic walk through town

The members of the United Methodist Church worshipped in the Ohio Northern University Chapel for the last time Sunday.

Following the service members paraded from the campus to their new permanent home on North Main Street.

Members and pastors of the other congregations in Ada were invited to join the walk to the new facility and have refreshments and socialize for a time. 

 

Auglaize Bible Church holds Scout Sunday

Auglaize Bible Church held Scout Sunday on Feb. 8. Melanie Butterfield, Jacob Butterfield, and Mason Kirkpatrick were greeters. During the flag ceremony the pledge of Allegiance was led by Miranda K and carried by Eve Brown. Mason  carried the Christian flag and pledge led by Jacob.

Samuel Brown read a piece of scripture from Psalm 40 and prayed. Emily Brown played harmonica for offering while the offering was taken by Mason, Jacob, Sam, and Jared Hunt.

The scouts sang trust and obey as special music.

Easter is already here for Ada's displaced United Methodist congregation

Ash Wednesday has the potential of being an emotionally awkward moment for the fire-displaced members of Ada’s First United Methodist Church. The service, which launches the solemn, 40-day Christian season of Lent, will be the first in the new building on the grounds of the former church at North Main Street and Highland Avenue.

First United Methodist congregation prepares to move into its new worship home

Ash Wednesday 2015 takes on a new meaning for First United Methodist members the year.

Retired United Methodist Bishop Joseph H. Yeakel will preach during the service, on Wednesday, Feb. 18, which will include communion and will be held in the new church building.

The guest preacher is the father of Rev. Mary Jo Yeakel, pastor of the Ada congregation.

Several additional events take place in February, March and April as the congregation prepares to move into its new building.

Christmas for Kids Dec. 6 at Trinity Lutheran

Christmas For Kids will be held at Trinity Lutheran School, 105 Allen Street, Jenera, on Saturday, December 6 from 1-4:30 p.m. The afternoon will provide children in Pre-school through 4th grade a special opportunity to hear the real message of Christmas, along with Christmas crafts, music, refreshments and fun.  For more information, please call 419-326-4402.

Sugar Grove singpriation, cookie auction Dec. 14

Sugar Grove United Methodist Church invites Icon viewers to its Holiday Singspiration and Cookie Auction on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 6 p.m.  

The evening iincludes singing your favorite holiday tunes and satisfy your sweet tooth with some delicious cookies. 

Proceeds from the cookie auction will benefit the church's mission.  All are welcome to attend. Sugar Grove UMC is located at 4549 State Route 81, east of Ada.
