McGuffey Christmas parade tonight!

Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be there

McGuffey is hosting their first-ever Christmas Parade on Wednesday, Dec. 4, in downtown McGuffey. The parade begins at 5:30 p.m., with activities to follow in the Community Room (behind the Post Office), 404 Courtright St. If you're coming from out of town, feel free to park at the school.

To see the parade, line up along Courtright Street (St. Rt. 195).

After the parade, Mr. & Mrs. Claus will be in the Community Room for pictures, Mr. Claus will read the Christmas story from the Bible to kids, plus indoor carnival games, free cookies, hot chocolate and hot apple cider will be available.

The Icon asks local organizations who sponsor a visit from Santa Claus this month to notify the Icon.

We will post all Santa visits in advance on the Icon that are open to the public. Send us the name of your organization or business with the date and time of the visit.

Brauen's Gourds Christmas open house Saturday

Jodi and Don Brauen will hold Brauen's Gourds Christmas open house this weekend.

The event is north of Ada, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, at 7140 Tom Fett Road, Bluffton.

Beatitudes' children's shopping spree Friday

Beatitudes’ children’s Christmas shopping spree takes place this week, according to Robert Kanzig.

The event is from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 6. Area youth may come to Beatitudes that evening and pick out Christmas gifts for family members free of charge. Snacks will be provided and Santa Claus will be present.

Beatutides is at 210 N. Main St., Ada.

The Hardin County Community Foundation, Kenton, is a sponsor of the program.

Free family movie at Kenton Theatre on Dec. 7

Sponsored by Century 21 Sunway Realty

Make plans to attend the free viewing of "Prancer,' showing at the Kenton Theatre at noon, Saturday, Dec. 7. The theatre is located at 221 West Franklin Street, Kenton.

Century 21 Sunway Realty, LLC, sponsors the free show, according to Becky Reed of the realty company. "The free show is a gift from us to the community," she said.

Also, Santa Claus is supposed to make an appearance.

Bluffton launches the holidays with Saturday's Blaze of Lights

5 p.m. parade • 6 p.m. entertainment • 7 p.m. lighting ceremony • Santa visit

FROM BLUFFTON ICON - Saturday's Blaze of Lights Festival draws families and friends off the couch and away from screens large and small  to enjoy a festive day in downtown Bluffton.

The 33rd annual celebration is expected to draw several thousand people to the village, according to Paula Scott, CEO of the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce. 

Bluffton’s shops, restaurants and festival vendors are ready to keep visitors busy, warm, and well-fed.
