At the new Ada Dog Park

By Monty Siekerman
The Ada Dog Park Association has set another doggy play date, this one for 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4 at the new Ada Dog Park.

The off-leash park for dogs is located near the end of East Lehr Avenue (turn east at the Church of Christ on Main Street). The large park has two fenced-in areas, one for small dogs and one for large dogs. There is a shelter house and water available. Bring balls or a Frisbee, if you wish.

About a dozen dogs were on hand for the first doggy play date a couple of weeks ago for exercise, socialization, and just plain fun. They were of many breeds, ages, colors, and sizes there.

Clothes, other back-to-school items to be exempt from sales tax

A back-to-school sales tax holiday will be held this weekend in Ohio.

It is an opportunity for parents to receive some sales tax relief during back-to-school shopping in preparation for the upcoming school year. This year’s sales tax holiday was authorized in the state budget bill.

From Friday, Aug. 3, through Sunday, Aug. 5, certain back to school items will be exempt from state and county sales and use taxes. Clothing items up to $75 each and school supplies or instructional materials up to $20 each will be free of taxes if purchased during this weekend. This includes a variety of items, from pencils and paper to pants and jackets to prepare for the fall.
