Remembering Ada area's Civil War vets

UPDATE JUNE 2023: A list of the 81 veterans is HERE.

ONU and the Village of Ada are joining together to honor Civil War veterans from Ada and Liberty Township.

After much research, the names of 81 veterans of the War Between the States have been found and their names, rank and unit will be inscribed on bricks and placed at the foot of the Civil War era canon in Railroad Park. The canon is a monument to those men who fought to preserve the Union and free a people.

Requiem for Clark Hall

Building played an important part in ONU's history

Easily overlooked and soon to be demolished, the homely, two-story brick building next to the Heterick Library, Clark Hall, has played an important part of Northern’s history.

Constructed in 1949, Clark Hall was the university’s first purpose-built dormitory. How and why it was built tells a great deal about the university.

ENT, Allergy Specialists, Facial Plastic Surgery Center open house

ENT and Allergy Specialists of Northwest Ohio and the Facial Plastic Surgery Center of Northwest Ohio, 1110 W. Main Cross St., Findlay, will host an open house from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 9.

The community is invited to tour the facility and meet the providers and care team.

Persons attending will receive education on ENT specialties, education on allergies, exclusive offers for cosmetic and reconstructive facial plastic surgery and education on audiology and hearing aid technology.

Attendees will also be entered to win a pair of Bose Quiet comfort 35 II noise canceling headphones and cosmetic injections.

Diane Thede, 1948 - 2018

Diane K. Thede, age 69, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at 12:57 p.m. at her residence in Ada.

          She was born on July 19, 1948 in Iowa City, Iowa to Wayne and Frances (Dallege) Ahrens.  Her father is deceased and her mother survives in Tipton, IA.  On September 1, 1967, Diane married Leslie D. Thede and he survives in Ada. 

          Diane retired after 26 years as an administrative assistant at Ohio Northern University.  She was a member of the ONU Women’s Book Club and Bridge Club.
