Longtime fire chief Jay Epley spoke to residents of Vancrest on Wednesday afternoon.
He explained about the department and answered questions. He also brought along a fire truck which residents could see after his presentation. Jay was named Citizen of the Year last November.

The police department arranges a program for residents once a month. Sometimes the programs involve police officers explaining their work, sometimes the speakers come from other community agencies.

Dignitaries break ground: 20 people (and one Polar Bear) heave dirt to symbolize the beginning of construction of a new $30 million engineering building. Heavy equipment and an army of workers will arrive just after commencement in May to actually start construction. Completion is set for the beginning of classes in the fall of 2019. Today (Friday) was a momentous day in the history of Ohio Northern when about 300 people gathered for a groundbreaking ceremony at the site which will become a $30 million College of Engineering building located just east of pharmacy.

Jimmy Wilson's Ohio Northern University Historical Geography class assignment was: Create a short film about a part of local history, either on campus or in the community.
The resulting films focused on four areas (click on each bold face topic to access those videos):
• ONU sport history videos- 5 video - These videos all detail histories of ONU athletic programs and teams, from the emergence of women’s sports to the new soccer stadium.
