Viva Maria's demonstrates "Compassion into Action"

Oct. 25 dine out program supports United Way; ONU men's lacrosse team members volunteer hosts

Adapting the United Way of Hardin County theme, Viva Maria's Pizza and Pasta, Ada,  will be demonstrate its “Compassion into Action” with the “Dine Out” program, Tuesday, Oct 25.

Of special interest will be the Ohio Northern University's men's Lacrosse team as volunteers for the United Way.  They will be special hosts and waiter assistants from 4 to 10 p.m.

Restaurant owner Susan Fricano has pledged a portion of their sales in support of the United Way of Hardin campaign. Viva Maria's specialize in Italian cuisine and are available for dine in or carry out during their business hours of 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Several events planned during Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas

Linda Dearth arranges Christmas items for sale at ReStore Community Center, on sale at just pennies on the dollar if purchased at a retailer. The items have been given to ReStore throughout the year and become available for purchase at this time.

Girls’ soccer: Ada girls to resume suspended tourney tie

The Ada girls soccer team played visiting Otsego to a 1-1 tie through one overtime in first round sectional tournament action before darkness suspended play at approximately 7:20 p.m. Monday evening.

Ada was seeded 10th in the sectional, while Otsego was 11th. The Lady Bulldog record remains 5-10-1. The game will be resumed starting with a second 15-minute overtime at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Ada.

Makayla Callahan scored the Ada goal with an assist from Ella Poling on the unseasonably warm evening. Shannon Weihl tallied the lone Otsego goal.

Alan Steinman, Ph.D., will discuss “Ecosystem Restoration from the Everglades to the Great Lakes: Fact, Fiction and (Occasional) Frustration” at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26, in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts at Ohio Northern University.

Bulldogs back in the number 3 spot in Region 28

Ada High School football team moved back into the third sport in Division VII, Region 28 OHSAA computer ranking this week.

Beads are the thing at the library

Julia Leonard and son, Noah, (left) and Erin Chrissobolis and son, Timothy, work with Perler beads at the Ada Public Library on Friday. The children had many patterns to choose from. The next bead event at the library will be scheduled in December.
