F & M Picnic horse show attracts competitors from wide area

Ada’s Farmer and Merchants Picnic horse show attracts competitors from a wide area and this year’s show should be no different.

The show is an Ohio Western Horse Association approved point show event, according to Jennifer Moshier, judge. It will conducted by O.W.H.A. rules.

This year’s show schedule, with all events taking place in the Ada park during the Farmers and Merchants Picnic, follows:

Saturday, Aug. 13
• 8 a.m. – Contest classes
• 9 a.m. – Halter classes
• Lunch break
• Performance classes

Ada youth learn how robots help police

The bomb squad came to Ada War Memorial Park on Thursday afternoon during a free ReStore Community Center lunch for children. The 40 kids at the park enjoyed seeing how robots work and how they can help protect police and catch the bad guys.

Members of the Allen County Regional Bomb Squad had two observation platforms on hand. One was a helmet, the other a robot. Also, clothing to help ward off injury from a detonated bomb was shown to the youngsters.

Phyllis Hall was retired from ONU dietary service

Phyllis C. Hall, 85, died on Friday, July 29, 2016, at 5:55 a.m. at the Kenton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Kenton.

She was born on May 24, 1931, in McGuffey, Ohio, to Charles Victor “CV” and Vera (Phillips) Stevenson who preceded her in death. On Dec. 30, 1952, she married Norman D. Hall and he preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 2012.

At The Cask Room - the game is on

Game Night at The Cask Room found many gamers and lots of games to play.
