Detergent sale underway

Proceeds from the Ada Music Booster's detergent sale will go toward the production of this spring's Ada High School musical "The Wedding Singer." Deadline for orders is March 22.

The sale features detergent, fabric softener, and dish soap packaged in a 5 gallon bucket with a pump for easy dispensing.  These are high quality private label products not affiliated with big name brands.  

Each bucket sells for $45.  The detergent and fabric softeners are available in a variety of scents. Detergent and dishwasher PODS are also available.  A container of detergent PODS will wash 200 loads while a container of dishwasher PODS will wash 250 loads for the same $45 price.

Here's what is happening at the Alger Public Library in March

The Alger Public Library has scheduled several events for all ages during the month of March.

Children in grades 1-5 are invited to Tune-In Tuesdays at 4 p.m. Please note the earlier time. Activities include crafts, games, special guests, and sometimes snacks.  During a program on March 14, children will participate in a coding activity using Ozobots, the world’s smallest smart robot. Ozobots are small, smart toy robots that empower gamers and learners to code, play, create, and connect the physical and digital worlds. 

On Thursdays students of all ages can receive Homework Help from 4:15 until 6 p.m.

4-H signup set

Liberty Belles and Boys 4-H Club signup meeting is set for 7-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, at the Ada First Presbyterian Church.

Regular meetings are held on the first, third and fifth Tuesdays of the month, March thru August, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the church.  Any Hardin County youth who is 8 years old and in the third grade by January 1 this year or older may join.

Northern Winds spring concert will honor the memory of Catherine “Kitty” Freed

The Northern Winds spring concert will honor the memory of Catherine “Kitty” Freed. The special musical tribute is set for Sunday, March 19, at 4 pm. at the Freed Center. Mrs. Freed led a rewarding life of service and set a fine example for the campus and community during her years as first lady of the University. 

Current Ohio Northern Symphonic Band members are preparing songs that reflect her positive spirit and uplifting nature. The program includes Williams Walton’s “Crown Imperial March,” Samuel Hazo’s “Southern Hymn” and “Whispers from Beyond” by Rossano Galante.

Ada Exempted Village School District kindergarten registration

The Ada Exempted Village School District kindergarten registration for the 2017-2018 school year will be held during the week of March 13 through 17 at Ada Elementary. Times will be from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Registration also will be open on Tuesday, March 14, from  5 until 7 p.m. One's child need not attend registration. 

Kindergarten screening to be held May 8 and 9

It's ONU 68 - Lakeland (Wisc.) 36

Saturday night vs. Trine at 7:30 p.m.

No. 5-ranked Ohio Northern defeated Lakeland (Wis.) 68-36 in the First Round of the NCAA Division III Women's basketball Tournament on Friday night at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears improve to 28-0, while the Muskies end their season at 20-8.

Ohio Northern will advance to the Second Round on Saturday at 7:30 pm and will face No. 15 Trine (ind.), who edged Illinois Wesleyan 63-56 in the first game of on Friday.

Junior Amy Bullimore (Morrow/Little Miami) led the Polar Bears as she posted a game-high 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
