Betty Hauenstein, 1924 - 2018

 Betty Hauenstein, age 93 died Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 7:24 p.m. at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton, Ohio.

            She was born on March 24, 1924 in Pittsburgh, PA to Samuel and Marie Anna (Bastardi) Meringleo who preceded her in death.  On March 25, 1944 she married C. Wayne Hauenstein and he died on April 15, 1987. 

            Betty retired from Ohio Northern University where she worked in the maintenance department.  She was a member of the Ada VFW Post #9381 Women’s Auxiliary.  Betty enjoyed Polka dancing.  She was a member of the Senior Citizens Center of Bluffton.

Sharon Kay Ansley Pitts led Ada girls to a state basketball championship

Her teams dominated NW Ohio for 10 seasons

Sharon Kay Ansley Pitts, 77, who led Ada High School girls' on a state basketball championship, died Jan. 4, 2018.

She was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio, on May 18, 1940, to the late Carl and Vera (Henkle) Ansley and is preceded in death by her brother. Dick Ansley.

She is survived by a sister Sue Nickerson, and brothers, Jerry Ansley, Mike Hurley, and Doug Hurley. 

Patricia A Shellabarger, 1928 - 2018

Patricia A. Shellabarger, age 89, died on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 10:05 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System.

          She was born on October 22, 1928 in Woodland, West Virginia to the late Lloyd and Blanche (Heslep) Yoho.  On September 13, 1958 Patricia married Fredric A. Shellabarger and he survives in Ada.

          Patricia was a homemaker.  She was a member of the West Milton United Church of Christ.

Steven D. Robirds, 1953 - 2018

Steven D. Robirds, age 64, died on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at his residence in Ada.

          He was born on January 10, 1953 in Hardin County, Ohio to the late Earnest Edward and Ressie (Dyer) Robirds.  On April 16, 1971 he married Cathy D. Simon and she preceded him in death on April 25, 2014.

          Steven worked as a maintenance supervisor at Steel Technologies of Ottawa.   He was a member of the Quickstep Pentecostal Church of God, Alger.  He was a 1970 graduate of Upper Scioto Valley High School.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served from 1972 to 1978.

Richard L Siegenthaler, 1955 - 2018

Richard L. “Ziggy” Siegenthaler, age 62, died on Tuesday, January 02, 2018 at 12:50 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System.

          He was born on May 6, 1955 in Bellefontaine, Ohio to Max and Juanita (Smith) Siegenthaler.  His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in West Mansfield.  On June 30, 1991 Richard married Robin K. Spradlin and she survives in Ada.                  

          Richard worked for Associated Plastics of Ada.  He enjoyed camping and playing video games.  He loved his grandchildren and spent as much time as he could with them. 

Mary Anne Hubin was co-founder of The Oak and Barn gift shop

Mary Anne Hubin, 85, died on Monday, Jan. 1, 2018 at Vancrest of Ada.

She was born on Sept. 1, 1932, in Madison, Wisconsin, to Eugene and Phyllis (Frye) Hubin who preceded her in death. 

Mary received her teaching degree at Mt. St. Joeseph College. She taught elementary and music courses for a number of years.  She was a co-founder of The Oak and Barn gift shop in Alger. She was active in display designs and purchasing. 

She is survived by a niece, Elaine Hughes of Quakertown Pennsylvania; and a nephew, Stephen Hubin, who lives in the United Kingdom.

Mary was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Hubin.
