The votes are in...and Ada High School cheerleaders are the winners.

Trends on Main, Findlay, recently held a contest - and Icon viewers read about it last week.

The contest involved photos of several area schools' cheerleaders dressed in Trends on Main prom and homecoming dresses. An online vote for the most favorite group followed and Ada cheerleaders earned the most votes.

The cheerleaders will now be featured on a billboard promoting the Findlay retail shop.

County records lots of rain in July.

During the month of July, Hardin County Extension rainfall reporters recorded an average of 8.23 inches of rain.  Last year, the average rainfall for July was 1.68 inches. The wet spring experienced by the county up until July was continued with an even more wet July, with several rainfall events adding to already wet soils.

This year’s July was exactly the opposite of last year, when the county received very little rain for the month.

Crop Production Services in Blanchard Township received 11.50 inches of rain for the month, the most of any of the township sites.  The least rain in July, 6.10 inches, was collected in McDonald Township by Jerry Stout.

A one-of-a-kind Ada weekend - Elvis was even here!

Here's proof - lots of F&M Picnic photos

Photos by Monty Siekerman
It was a great weekend in Ada as the 104th annual Farmers and Merchants Picnic took place under sunny skies.

LOTS OF PHOTOS AT BOTTOM OF STORY -

A good size crowd attended festivities throughout the day. More people than usual lined Main Street for the parade, drawing many children with sacks for the candy that was tossed to them.

Hint for next year: kids at the beginning of the parade get more candy that those at the end of the parade because the candy stock hasn't run out.
