Lent: a season of changing habits and developing new ones 

Lent provides a chance to take inventory of our attitudes

Lent, the six-week prelude to Easter, is traditionally a time for sacrifices but can also be a season for making gains, says the Rev. David MacDonald, ONU chaplain.

“Many individuals focus on the aspect of self-denial by giving up something such as a favorite food item,” MacDonald said. “While there is nothing wrong with that practice, Lent can be a season of longer-lasting, more practical impact.”

Rather than merely ditching candy bars for six weeks, Lent provides more meaningful opportunities.

Ada all about agribusiness

Nearly 900 farmers and agribusiness people at conservation tillage conference here

About 900 farmers and agribusiness people were expected at the annual Conservation Tillage Conference held in McIntosh Center on Tuesday and Wednesday.

People from Ohio, several other states, and Canada were on hand.

More than 30 agribusiness exhibitors displayed and described the latest in farm products. A two-day lineup of speakers--drawn from extension service, Farm Bureau, and universities--told of the latest advances in farming.

Traffic movements at SR 309 and Napoleon Road to be restricted

Since 2010 27 accidents occurred at intersection

Traffic movements onto and across state Route 309 from Napoleon Road near Allen East School will be restricted beginning Friday, March 10.

From 7:30-8:30 a.m., and from 2:30-3:30 p.m. on school days, traffic will be prohibited from turning left from Napoleon Road onto state Route 309, and from crossing state Route 309 from Napoleon Road. The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will have signs denoting the change in place by noon on March 10.

The new signage will be placed on the far driver’s side on both the north and south approaches on Napoleon Road in clear sight of traffic stopped at the intersection.

Detergent, fabric softener, dish soap sale in process

Proceeds from the Ada Music Booster's detergent sale will go toward the production of this spring's Ada High School musical "The Wedding Singer." Deadline for orders is March 22.

The sale features detergent, fabric softener, and dish soap packaged in a 5 gallon bucket with a pump for easy dispensing.  These are high quality private label products not affiliated with big name brands.  

Each bucket sells for $45.  The detergent and fabric softeners are available in a variety of scents. Detergent and dishwasher PODS are also available.  A container of detergent PODS will wash 200 loads while a container of dishwasher PODS will wash 250 loads for the same $45 price.
