BW beats ONU in women's lacrosse

BEREA -- The Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-1 decision at league-leading Baldwin Wallace on Friday afternoon at Finnie Stadium.

The Polar Bears fall to 3-10 overall and are 2-3 in Ohio Athletic Conference action, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 11-2, 6-0.

Mackenzie wins at singles and doubles

MASON -- The Ohio Northern women's tennis team swept all nine courts and wrapped up its play in the OAC Tennis Fest with a 9-0 victory over Marietta on Saturday at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.

The Polar Bears improve to 17-4 overall and are 4-1 in Ohio Athletic Conference play, while the Pioneers fall to 1-16, 1-5.

Ada's own Mackenzie Wills  won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Mackenzie, a freshman, and Catherine Curry won doubles 8-0.

2 shutouts for ONU softball

NEW CONCORD -- Junior Kirsten Lightel(Tallmadge) and sophomore Kaitlin Surdej(Lancaster/Central) each threw shutouts to lead the Ohio Northern softball team to a 6-0, 3-0 sweep at Muskingum on Friday afternoon at Newberry Stadium.

The Polar Bears improve to 22-8 overall and are 8-4 in Ohio Athletic Conference play, while the Muskies fall to 12-20, 4-8.

ONU also clinched its fourth consecutive winning season with the victories

Men's tennis wins 9-0

MASON -- The Ohio Northern men's tennis team swept Muskingum and Marietta by 9-0 scores on the second and final day of the OAC Tennis Fest on Saturday at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.

The Polar Bears are 10-7 overall and 2-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

Baseball splits double header

The Ohio Northern baseball team used a 7-run fourth inning scoring outburst in the second game of a double header with Muskingum as Northern fell 5-2 in game one before defeating the Muskies 12-1 in the nightcap of a double header at Wander Field.

The Polar Bears move to 13-14 overall and 4-6 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Muskies move to 12-14, 5-5.

Molinaro finishes strong in national meet

Torrence, Cal.--Junior Matt Molinaro (Sterling Heights, Mich./DeLaSalle) posted a strong performance in the 800-meter run at the Mt. Sac Relays on Friday afternoon in Torrance, Cal.

The junior finished fourth overall in the event, and tied his own mark for the fastest time nationally among Div. III athletes.

Molinaro finished the event in 1:49.30 and was within one second of the first place runner
