Women's track ranked high nationally

The Ohio Northern women's outdoor track and field team is ranked No. 13 in the nation, according to a coaches' poll.

Northern in coming off of an outstanding indoor season in which the team posted a 52-9 record and finished tied for fifth nationally as a team at the NCAA Div. III Championships.

The only time they will compete at home this spring will be when ONU hosts the Polar Bear Invitational on Saturday, April 2.

In the recent poll, Washington (Mo.) took the top spot while Claremon-Mudd-Scripps (Cal.) came in second and Wis.-LaCrosse rounded out the top three.

ONU men's lacrosse wins 18-4

ADA — Freshman Cameron Marous(Brecksville) scored four goals and added three assists as the Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team defeated Adrian (Mich.) 18-4 on Tuesday evening at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

The Polar Bears improve to 4-3 overall, while the Bulldogs fall to 2-4.

Baseball loses a close one

ANGOLA, Ind. — The Ohio Northern baseball team fell to Trine (Ind.) 12-11 on Tuesday evening at Jannen Field.

The Polar Bears fall to 8-6 overall, while the Thunder move to 6-3.

Men's tennis loses to Adrian

Here's the results of the Final Four in women's basketball from last weekend in Grand Rapids, Mich

Amherst (Mass.) defeated ONU's nemesis Christopher Newport (Va.), 66-51.

Tufts (Mass.) defeated St. Thomas (Fla.) 60-57.

Amherst defeated Tufts, 52-29, for the Championship. This was the lowest scoring championship basketball game in NCAA Division III history.

Also, attendance for the final game was the lowest ever with the two Massachusetts teams in the final being a long way from Grand Rapids

Women's tennis wins again with help from Ada's Mackenzie Wills

LIMA -- The Ohio Northern women's tennis team ran its winning streak to five matches with a 9-0 victory over Wittenberg Sunday night indoors at the Westwood Tennis and Fitness Center.

The Polar Bears improve to 13-2 overall, while the Tigers fall to 5-9.

Northern swept the doubles matches to take a quick 3-0 lead.

Junior Lynn Kelly (Mason) and sophomore Ashley Ochsenhirt (Birmingham, Ala./Briarwood Christian) won 8-1 at No. 1 and seniors Christina Corbean(Dayton/Oakwood) and Brittany Toney(Greenwood, Ind.) won 8-2 at No. 2.

Baseball team scores 19 runs

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. — Sophomore Caleb Thomas (Strongsville) smashed a 3-run home run to lead the Ohio Northern baseball team to a 19-6 victory at Thomas More (Ky.) on Saturday at Thomas More Field.

The Polar Bears improve to 7-4 and the Saints fall to 4-2.

Thomas finished the day 3-for-3 with 5 RBI and four runs scored and junior Brandon Kasberg (Mentor) was 3-for-5 with an RBI and four runs scored.

ONU lacrosse updates

Men's lacrosse wins 22-4

HOUGHTON, N.Y. — Sophomore Max Weese(Columbus/Hilliard Darby) scored a school record eight goals to lead the Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team to a 22-4 victory at Houghton (N.Y.) on Saturday afternoon at Burke Field.

The Polar Bears improve to 3-3, while the Highlanders fall to 0-6.

Weese also had an assist and finished with a school record nine points.

Freshman Cameron Marous (Brecksville) scored two goals and had an assist and 12 other Ohio Northern players tallied a goal in the game.
