Men's Golf rallies for second place finish at OAC Spring Invitational

Sophomore Joshua Turich(Centerville) tied his career-low 18- and 36-hole rounds to help the Ohio Northern men's golf team rally to a second place finish at the OAC Spring Invitational Sunday-Monday at Cumberland Trails Golf Club.

The Polar Bears improve to 35-30-1 on the season.

Turich fired a 77-77—154 to equal his performance in the OAC Fall Invitational, where his 77-77—154 were career his 18- and 36-hole lows.

His 154 in the OAC Spring Invitational tied him for 14th out of 55 golfers.

Sophomore named OAC Defender of the Week

Ohio Northern sophomore Alex Pizarro (Boonsboro, Md.) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Defender of the Week for the week of Apr. 2-8.

Pizarro earned the honor forb the first time in his career.

The sophomore led Northern to a 2-0 week as the Polar Bears defeated conference-foes Wilmington and Muskingum.

Pizarro had a 4.67 goals against average in 90 minutes of action and posted a 2-0 record on the week as Northern's goalie.

The Polar Bears return to action Wednesday, Apr. 12 at 7 pm as they host Heidelberg at Dial-Roberson Stadium

Sophomore named OAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week

Sophomore Maddy Reed(Lucasville/Piketon) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for the week of Apr. 2-8.

Reed had a record-setting performance to lead the No. 11-ranked Polar Bears to a first place victory at the Marv Frye Invitational this past weekend.

The sophomore set the school record in the pole vault and won the event with a leap of 12' 8.25".

Reed now owns both the indoor and outdoor record for pole vault at Ohio Northern.

The Polar Bears return to action Saturday, Apr. 15 as they return to Ohio Wesleyan to compete in the All-Ohio Championships

 

Sophomore Ashley  named Women's Tennis OAC Player of the Week

Sophomore Ashley Ochsenhirt(Birmingham, Ala./Briarwood Christian) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of Apr. 2-8.

Ochsenhirt earned the accolade for the third time during the spring season.

The sophomore posted a 2-0 record at No. 1 singles and a 2-0 record at No. 2 doubles as Ohio Northern won at Otterbein 8-1 and at Mount Union 9-0 last week.

The Polar Bears will return to action Thursday, Apr. 13 - Friday, Apr. 14 as they compete in the OAC Tennis Fest in Mason, Ohio at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.

Hospital patient care to be discussed

Leslie A. Theis will discuss “Embracing the patient: How hospitals can and should capitalize on CAHPS patient surveys” at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18 in Dicke Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Theis, a registered nurse, is performance improvement director at the University of Toledo Medical Center. She will explain the impact of Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) surveys to hospitals and patients and how the information gleaned from these surveys can result in improved patient experiences in the future.

Ada Church of Christ dinner

The Ada Church of Christ will sponsor a pulled pork dinner on Saturday, May 6, to benefit the Porcelain ministry, which assists unwed mothers in the Ada area, and the Ft. Wayne Children's Home.

Eat-in and carry out will be available from 4:30 until 7 p.m. at the church which is located at 316 S. Main. Tickets are $7 and may be purchased by calling 419-233-4476
