F&M Picnic: Parade goes without hitch, just a few sprinkles, then a gully washer

Those attending the Farmers and Merchants picnic on Saturday were having a fun time until noon. Then, there were a few sprinkles, followed by a gully washer at 2 p.m., sending even the diehard picnic-goers home.

Events were cancelled, rides and food trucks packed up and left, and those hosting games escaped the tropical-like downpours that continued throughout the afternoon.

SPOILER ENDING - Saturday is the final day of the season for the Ada swimming pool. There is no admission on the last day, thanks to the Ada Lions Club.

The three-day annual Lincoln Highway Buy-Way across America yard sale began in Ada on Thursday morning amid sunny skies.

A tent along Main Street in the Railroad Park will be manned during the sale by the Ada chamber and C.I.C. members, the local sponsoring organizations.

In addition to handing out the maps, people visiting the tent can also find Ada sesquicentennial books and yardsticks.

Try-outs for fast pitch travel team Aug. 14

The Northwest Ohio Lunachix 18U fast pitch travel softball team will hold tryouts soon.

Tryouts are at 4 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 14, in the Bluffton village park on the County Line Road.
