Stratton Greenhouses, Roots by Stratton open house

Stratton Greenhouses, 9915 Lincoln Highway, and Roots by Strattons, 111 S. Main St., Bluffton, will hold a spring open house this weekend, according to Susie Stratton.

The event includes several drawings and giveaways.

Open house hours:

Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.

Roots by Stratton's -
Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

ONU's Lombardo named OAC goalkeeper of the year

Junior John Lombardo (Solon) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year, leading a list of six Ohio Northern student/athletes were named All-Ohio Athletic Conference in men's soccer for 2020-21 in voting conducted by the league's 10 head coaches.

Junior Levi King (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) joined Lombardo as a First Team selection.

Senior Zach Yoder (Goshen, Ind./Northridge) and junior Caiman Moore (Linden, Mich.) were named Second Team All-Conference.

Senior Seth Gundlach (Wilmington) and junior Matt Studenic (Wadsworth) were Honorable Mention all-OAC honorees.

DOLA - The Ada track and field teams fared well at the annual 10-team Hardin Northern Invitational Saturday.

The Lady Bulldogs came in third, while the Ada boys ended up seventh.

Jackson Brown and Antonio Pettit finished one-two in the boys 110-meter high hurdles to post the top Ada showing.

Leipsic captured the girls team title with 168.5 points, followed by Riverdale (146) and Ada (88.5).

Arlington won the boys crown by scoring 114 points, with Riverdale again second (108). The Bulldog boys tallied 48 points.

Billy Sherman was retired from Bass Trucking

Billy L. Sherman, 74, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021, at 10:24 p.m. at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.

He was born on Aug. 29, 1946, in Indiana to the late Kenneth C. and Mertis Sherman. On June 13, 1973, Billy married Betty Jo Gardner and she preceded him in death on Nov. 5, 2012.

Billy retired from Bass Trucking of Ada. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran who served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Ada VFW Post #9381.
