Bruns named 2nd team All-American

Ohio Northern junior Ryan Bruns (Chickasaw/Marion Local) was named 2nd team All-America in men's basketball for 2018 in voting conducted by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and D3hoops.com.

Bruns was also named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year and First Team All-Great Lakes Region this season.

He was second on the team, third in the OAC and 12th nationally in scoring at 24.0 ppg this year.

He also led the team and the OAC and was 13th nationally with an ONU single-season junior record 65 blocked shots and is third in the league, averaging a team-best 8.7 rebounds per game.

He is ONU's all-time career blocked shots leader with 189.

Bruns currently ranks 26th all-time at ONU with 1,162 career points.

Bruns is the first All-American in men's basketball since Kyle Meyer in 2010 and is the 12th All-American in ONU men's basketball history.

The Polar Bears finished the season with a 19-9 record, were third in the OAC with a 12-6 record and reached the finals of the OAC Tournament in 2017-18 under second-year head coach Rich Bensman.
