Summary of June Ada Area Chamber of Commerce meeting

The June Ada Area Chamber of Commerce member meeting was held in the community room adjacent to Buckeye East Coffee Shop, 123 E. Buckeye. All of the members present provided an update on their business or activities. Chamber director Lindsay Walden-Hollar and board president Becky Neville provided an update on chamber benefits and upcoming activities.

The meeting opened with an update from host Amber Simon, who noted that the community room is available for parties and meetings, with “5th Quarter” events being the most popular. After Ada High School home football games, the space is used for these events for 6-12th graders. Pizza and prizes are provided thanks to sponsors and donors, and couples with school age children provide supervision. Simon is currently signing up support with Wilson Football Factory sponsoring the first event of Fall 2023.

In chamber updates, Walden-Hollar and Neville reviewed the chamber’s SOCA (Southern Ohio Chamber Alliance) benefits including credit card processing (coming soon), Energy Solutions, Chamber Saver Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance and workers compensation.

The chamber traditions of Town & Gown and annual luncheon will be merged into one gala event under the chamber’s direction. The Town & Gown committee will still meet to find new ways to work together.

Village administrator Jamie Hall provided insight on work to be conducted in the village including road striping downtown this summer. When a member asked about a stop sign blocked by branches, he noted that both he and mayor Dave Retterer keep pruners in their trucks and are ready to take care of these issues.

Incoming Bluffton Lions president Beth Fenton thanked Dalton Bass for donating use of the Bass Trucking lot on State Route 81 for the spring mulch sales which support scholarships for Ada students.

Samantha Eddington introduced her business, Renew Carpet Cleaning, which does many kinds of floor cleaning as well as upholstery cleaning. Below is a sample of information provided in chamber business listings:
