Amanda Bennett, Director of the Ada Public Library, updated the Ada Kiwanis Club about this summer’s library reading program, which has concluded
She noted the following:
• 446 people signed up for summer reading program, which included:
• 57 babies - age 5
• 152 kindergarten - 5th grade
• 76 6th grade to 12th grade
• 161 adults
Also: 231 persons of all ages finished the program (roughly 51%)
The library held 73 programs over six weeks, with 1,787 attending the programs.
That’s one way to describe the 2014 wheat harvest in the Icon viewership area.
Larry Kaiser, manager Ada grain branch of Heritage Cooperative, provide the Icon with some of this year’s harvest figures.
Kaiser reports yields ranging from 65 to 90 bushels per acre, with an average of about 80 bushels per acre. Moisture content average was 15.2 percent mostly (13.5 percent is dry).
The first wheat arrived at the Ada elevator on July 5 and the harvest should be completed by the end of this week.
President Heather Cox called weekly meeting of the Ada Kiwanis Club to order at 12:00 noon on Tuesday July 15th at McIntosh Center, Ohio Northern University, Ada.

Meyer Hall was named for the university’s seventh president, Samuel Lewis Meyer.
Construction began in November 1968 and the building was dedicated Oct. 3, 1970. The building cost roughly $3,200,000. Originally, the structure was called the Basic Sciences Building, since it was home to the biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics departments.
Becky Neville’s Main Street Ada real estate brokerage became an independent agency this spring. Its name is now Beacon Realty.
“We continue with the same great service and professional attitude toward real estate,” she said.
Neville’s real estate background goes back 30 years in Hardin County. In July 2001, she opened her office on Main Street.
“I’m expanding our services. We now offer appraisals and market analysis,” said Neville, who is a licensed residential real estate appraiser in addition to being a broker.

At 7:30 p.m. on July 8, 2014 the Cessna Minutemen 4-H club held a meeting at Walnut Grove United Methodist Church. The 4-H pledge was led by Preston Rembis and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Emily Jones. Roll call was taken by advisor, Sherrie Breidenbach by asking the members if their project was coming along. Vice president, Ashley Breidenbach read the minutes from the last meeting.
Inez P. Moser, 93, died on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at 6:55 p.m. at Birchaven Village, Findlay.
She was born on August 6, 1920 in Putnam County, Ohio to Ralph and Ethel (Pacey) Cherry and they preceded her in death. On November 30, 1939 she married Howard C. Moser and he died on June 15, 1997.
