The Hardin County OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteers (MGV) brought back three state awards from the Ohio MGV Conference held this past weekend at Maumee Bay State Park near Toledo. 

The Hardin County Developmental Disabilities Board, Master Gardener Dave McPheron, and the local program ‘Children’s Day at the Friendship Gardens,’ were recognized as state winners at this annual conference. 

Here's the calendar of events of activities taking place in the next few weeks in Hardin County from the the Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance.

Good Samaritan Society of Arlington will hold a Founders Day celebration and open house on Monday, Sept. 28, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Free blood pressure and balance screening, along with nutrition, health and wellness information. Hors d'oeuvres will be served.

The Bluffton community’s 12th annual Fall Festival, with many family-oriented activities, takes place throughout the community on Saturday, Sept. 26, according to Daren Lee of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio, who coordinates the festival.

Events take place at Maple Crest Senior Living Village, Mennonite Memorial Home, downtown Bluffton, at the Swiss Community Historical Society homestead on Bixel Road, Bluffton Family Recreation and Bluffton Public Library.

What to know how the ReStore floor fund is doing?

According to the ReStore Facebook: "As of Sept. 3, the floor fund stands at $8,486.52 toward our goal of $15,000.

This 56.57% of the goal. Persons interested in supporting the fund stop in at ReStore for more details.

The Cask Room, 127 S. Main St., Ada, celebrates its first anniversary in business with an Anniversary Week Celebration now through Saturday, Sept. 12, according to Steven Bates.

Extra dinners will be available for the Ada Music Boosters annual barbecue on Friday, Sept. 11, prior to Ada’s first home football game with Lima Central Catholic. 

Dinners will be available at the Ada Park on Friday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.; simply drive up in your car to be served.

The Ada Music Boosters chicken barbecue features a complete dinner for $8 each.

Ada elementary students will be visited by the "in-school dentist" on Friday, Oct. 23. 

The visit is part of the Smile Programs...the mobile dentists.

Enrollment forms will be sent home with elementary children. Parents need to fill out and sign the enrollment form and return it to the school with your child.

Vicki Mills is offering free preview classes twice this month at Miss Vicki's Music Studio in Ada.

Dr. Keith F. Durkin, Ohio Northern University professor of sociology, will serve as data analyst and program evaluator for the Hardin County Juvenile Court to facilitate the provision of behavioral health services to post-adjucated youth ages 12-17 who have mental health disorders.

The program was made possible after Hardin County was awarded a $65,210 Competitive RECLAIM Grant from the Ohio Department of Youth Services.
