ONU senior Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) has been named the 2018 Division III Honda Athlete of the Year nominee for track and field as announced by Executive Director Chris Voelz of THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) presented by Honda.
Richards is now designated one of 11 finalists for the prestigious DIII Honda Woman Athlete of the Year. This will be voted on at the end of the academic year by national balloting among 1,000 NCAA member schools as part of THE CWSA program, now in its 42nd year.
The Hardin County Pullers will be at Ada War Memorial Park on Friday, June 8. The competition will begin at 7 p.m. and will last until about 11 p.m. Gates open at 3 p.m. Registration is at 5 p.m.

Saturday is the last day for the Ada Lions Club mulch sale that benefits scholarships. To order a scoop or two for delivery, call Chad Hays at Hays Insurance, 419-634-5626. Black and brown mulch is available for pickup or delivery.
The Ohio Northern University HealthWise Pharmacy will host a community health carnival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 9.
The pharmacy is located in the Robertson-Evans Pharmacy Building at ONU, located at 511 W. Lincoln Ave. in Ada.
The event will allow individuals to learn about their health, play games and win prizes. Refreshments and lunch will be provided.
Information will be offered on health topics such as high blood pressure, diabetes, sun safety, drug abuse/addiction, immunizations and plans to quit smoking. Further, medication reviews will be offered.

For the time period of May 1-May 31, Extension rainfall reporters recorded an average of 3.40 inches of rain in Hardin County. Last year, the average rainfall for the same time period was 7.21 inches. Rainfall for May was 0.99 inches less than the ten-year average rainfall for the month. Liberty Township (Ada area ) had the lowest rainfall amount for the month of May with 2.15 inches.
World War I was ending and a flu epidemic was well underway. This was 1918, the year that St. Rita’s opened its doors in the Lima community.
Mercy Heath – St. Rita’s Medical Center celebrates 100 years of medical service to the surrounding communities with a community celebration on June 9.
All are invited to the Saturday event that will offer fun, games and history from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The goal of the community celebration is to evoke a feeling of pride in the community and emphasize the St. Rita’s tradition of care.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio High School Athletic Association has announced details for the 2018 football regional assignments and playoffs schedule, including the location for the state championship games. The OHSAA will return to using Saturday nights for several divisions during the playoffs and the 2018 title games will return to Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton.
June 1932 the transfer of the Ada Public Library from the Ada Federated Clubs to the new district library boards was in effect. Mrs. George Stambaugh was elected chairman of the new seven-member board.
July 1932 reconstruction of the elevator of the Ada Farmers Exchange was started. It had been destroyed by fire.
