Senior Daniel Donner (Bellville/Northmor) had his first career double-double and senior All-American Ryan Bruns (Chickasaw/Marion Local) scored 32 points to lead the Ohio Northern men's basketball team in a 90-75 loss at Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday evening at Lou Higgins Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears fall to 4-10 overall and are 0-7 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Yellow jackets are now 10-4, 4-3.
The January presentation of the “Living through Loss” series will be held on Monday, January 21 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and titled “Understanding Depression through Grief.” This presentation will take place in the Marathon Auditorium at Blanchard Valley Hospital located at 1900 South Main Street in Findlay.
“Understanding Depression in Grief” will assist the bereaved in identifying depression, understanding the difference between “feeling” and “being” depressed and offer coping mechanisms for healthy grief. Jamie Wilkinson-Franks, MSW, LISW-S of Stepping Stones Counseling, will be presenting with opportunity for discussion to follow.
President-elect Marlene Hoorman presided over the Jan. 8 Ada Kiwanis Club, which met at New China Restaurant.
Members discussed the 67th annual pancake and sausage Day. It was agreed future calendars would be scanned and the project discussed further at the January 15 meeting.
It was noted that the new Kenton Kiwanis Club has been granted its official charter from Kiwanis International. The new club will celebrate with a Charter Night Party at a future date.
The club will meet at noon, Tuesday, Jan. 15, in the Dean’s Heritage, McIntosh Center, Ohio Northern University.
West end storm sewer project, Willeke phase 1 and completion of the Ada pool project are three projects David Retterer, Ada mayor, highlighted in his annual report to Ada council on Tuesday.

Continuing his summary of 2018 projects, he noted that the Ada dispatch is now supplied by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office.
Adding that the Village of Ada is in sound financial shape, the mayor credited council members and others who monitor revenues, wages and assets and investments of the village.
Commodores sink Ada girls

CRIDERSVILLE - Host Perry turned the tables in their rematch with Ada and defeated the Lady Bulldogs 58-24 in non-league girls basketball action Tuesday night.
The purple and gold fell to 1-12 with the defeat, while the Lady Commodores improved to 1-9 with their first victory.
Ada earned its only win by beating Perry 51-37 a month ago to the day of the rematch.
"We did not show up to play in the first half," said new Ada head coach Morgan Bass. "Very frustrating. They are just quicker than we are.
The Ada-Liberty Joint Ambulance District will meet at 5:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 21, according to Nancy Kindle, fiscal officer/clerk of the ambulance district.
David Weimer, age 99, on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019. at his residence in St Marys.
He was born in Marion, Ind., to the late Earle E. Weimer and Cleo (Troutman) Weimer. On Nov. 4, 1944, David married Jane Utterback of Frankfort, Ky., and she preceded him in death on July 26, 2012. He and his beloved Janie were married for nearly 68 years.
David graduated from Grandview High School in Columbus in 1937. He went on to receive a BS, with major in physics, from The Ohio State University in 1941.
Sealed bids for the Willeke Ave Reconstruction Phase II project will be received by the Village of Ada until 10 a.m., Tueday, Jan. 29, according to Jamie Hall, village administrator.
A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the village offices.

The Ohio Northern men's soccer team continued to demonstrate the program's storied tradition of success in the classroom during the 2018 campaign under 21st-year head coach Brent Ridenour, establishing new academic records for the program this season.
With a conference-record 70 players on the 2018 roster, the program posted its third-highest team GPA for the fall academic semester in school history with a 3.42 grade point average.
The outstanding academic performance follows the 2017-18 school year in which the program topped the Ohio Athletic Conference with the highest team grade point average for the entire academic year.
