Apollo Career Center will hold its seventh annual Apollopalooza on April 11, 5:30-7 p.m. Apollopalooza will showcase both the high school and adult education programs, celebrate Apollo's partnerships with local businesses, highlight Career Tech opportunities, its students and instructors. The event is free and open to the public.

For over 40 years, Apollo has provided workforce development to thousands of adult and high school students. The training and programs offered, as well as the equipment and technology used, has changed dramatically since the doors opened to the first classes.

Three events are planned this spring at the Ohio Northern University Observatory, according to Dr. Jason Pinkney, of the Department of Physics and Astronomy.  They follow:

County Road 15 bridge over Hog Creek undergoes rehabilitation

The bridge over Hog Creek on Hardin County Road 15, west of Ada, is closed until mid-June while the bridge is undergoing a rehabilitation, according to Luke Underwood of the county engineer’s office.

The project, estimated at $220,314, includes work handled by the county and U.S. Bridge of Cambridge. A portion of the cost is covered by a grant from the Ohio Public Works Commission. The U.S. Bridge portion of the project is estimated at $170,314 and the county's share is $50,000.

The bridge beams are being removed and taken to Cambridge for rehabilitation and to be galvanized. Once they are returned and replaced the county will reinstall a concrete deck.

CRIDERSVILLE - Host Perry tallied seven first inning runs and went on to post a 13-1 victory over Ada in the baseball season opener Saturday afternoon.

Perry took advantage of seven walks and four Bulldog errors to win despite knocking out just three hits.

Ada (0-1) plated its lone run in the top of the third inning when Phillip Coulson singled home Jaylin Burkart, who had walked.

Perry pushed across five more runs in the home half of the third frame to extend the lead to 12-1. The Commodores added a run in the fourth to finsih the run-rule shortened 13-1 win.

Trent Ennis added the other Ada hit.

CENTERVILLE - Visiting Ada opened its tennis season with a close 3-2 loss at traditional Div. I power Centerville by a 3-2 count Saturday.

The Bulldogs dropped to 0-1 while the Centerville B squad improved to 2-0 with the win.

Ada senior Cade Mullins won a tough two-set battle at first singles to post one Bulldog win. The first set came in a 7-5 tiebreak win, followed by a close 6-4 win in set two.

Junior Isaac Spar registered the other Bulldog victory in straight sets at second singles.

WAYNESFIELD - Colonel Crawford won the boys and girls track team titles at the season-opening Joe Horn Tiger Relays at Waynesfield Saturday.
The Ada boys and girls teams each came in fifth out of eight teams at the annual event.
Bulldog senior Noah Mattson finished first in the individual shot put, and led Ada to second place in the discus relay.
Junior Phillip Gautier paced the Bulldog boys to first in the long jump relay, finishing first individually in the event.

Three year presence at state tournaments

Mercy Health, a Catholic health ministry serving Ohio and Kentucky announces that it will serve as the exclusive Official Health Care Partner of the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) for three years. OHSAA promotes the values of participation in interscholastic athletics as an integral part of a student's educational experience.
