Summer is a great time to explore the art spread across the Ada community – especially for viewers unable to visit art galleries elsewhere in Ohio.

As a weekly series, The Icon will feature the art located on The Remington Walk on the Ohio Northern University campus. For some viewers, this series is familiar. For others, it may be a first-time experience.

Either way, it’s an opportunity to take a walk and view some art that is uniquely Ada. The Walk is spread through campus and may be viewed by following the ONU walking path, beginning near Affinity Village, west of The Freed Center.

The Ohio Northern men's track and field team was named an All-Academic Team in 2020 by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Polar Bears posted a 3.20 team GPA to earn the award.

To qualify for the honor, a team must have a cumulative GPA of all student-athletes who used a season of eligibility of at least a 3.1 on a 4.0 scale through the most recent semester/quarter.

Overall, there were 150 different programs honored for their academic excellence.

The Polar Bears posted a 54-11 record and finished fourth at the Ohio Athletic Conference championships during the 2020 indoor season under 11-year head coach Jason Maus.

Ada host site of West Ohio Food Bank free distribution

Vehicles were lined up and waiting.

The West Ohio Food Bank came to Ada on Wednesday with its monthly Hardin County free food distribution program.

The Ada visit resulted in the distribution of 35,900 pounds of food passed to 133 families, according to Jason Aldrich of the food bank.

The distribution point was at the ONU Lakeview parking lot behind The Freed Center.

Members of the Ohio National Guard loaded vehicles with food during the two-hour period. Their volunteer efforts are part of their mission assisting food banks across Ohio.

West Ohio Food Bank, based at 1366 E. Kibby St., Lima,  serves an 11-county area.

We are part of your communities. We know you, and you know us. As we all deal with COVID-19, we want to be a part of the solution; we want to educate and empower you to be a part of the solution also

Note: Ada Icon supports the opinions put forth in this letter.

Ada Icon viewers:
We, your doctors and your nurse practitioners, are living and working together with you as the COVID-19 pandemic is unfolding.

We are currently seeing an increasing number of people with this infection in Putnam county and surrounding areas.  We want to do everything we can to limit the spread of COVID-19 and need your help.

What you do matters. The basic actions you keep hearing about, i.e. washing hands, social distancing, wearing masks, and staying home when you are sick, actually do much to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Ada Youth Football K-6 registration is now online, according to Adam West.

"To help make the registration process easier we have decided to move the registration process online instead of our traditional in person registration process," he said.

To register visit the team's new website by clicking here.

"Registering early will help us determine how many coaches and volunteers we will need this season," he said.

So, you think you know Ada. Yesterday we tossed this photo at viewers. It's near the ZTA House at 625 Union near the intersection of Union and College. Perhaps the photos below will help locating this object.
