In the English language, Uber denotes an outstanding example of a particular kind of thing. However, most of us are familiar with Uber being used to describe a company that offers ride sharing services and food delivery. So with all of the bad COVID-19 news with cases increasing and hospital beds filling as well as mask mandates returning, what is the good news?

According to the CDC, over 32 million people suffer from osteoarthritis. Arthritis is inflammation and soreness in your joints. Chronic pain caused by arthritis affects approximately one in four adults. This equates to over 15 million people. Spinal arthritis is a specific type of arthritis that focuses on inflammation of the facet joints that can be located throughout the whole spine.

I recently discovered an author with a huge body of work, and a style that satisfies the soul which is searching for something, somehow, more than plain pop fiction. Chris Bohjalian has written twenty-two books, all based upon specific issues that are relatable to present times and circumstances. I read the first three that came to me through the library lending service.

Barbara Sue Earl, 76, of Nokomis, FL and formerly of Ada, Ohio, passed away Monday, July 26, 2021. She was born on November 6, 1944 in Floyd Co., KY to Bun & Ora (Thacker) Montgomery.

She was a 1963 graduate of Ada High School. Barbara married Leonard Leon Earl on March 6, 1965.

The Hardin County Department of Job and Family Services announced they have launched a countywide back to school clothing program for eligible Hardin County families.

"To be eligible families must reside in Hardin County, have children enrolled in grades PreK-12 and be at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level. For a family of four, that’s right around $53,000 a year,” stated John Folk, Hardin County JFS Director.

On Friday, August 6, a car show hosted by Vancrest of Ada, 600 W. North Ave, Ada, will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in their front parking lots.

Cars of all ages are welcome and encouraged to participate. A prize will be awarded to Best of Show.

Mercy Health – St. Rita's Medical Center and the Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy have enhanced and extended their outreach-based partnership that has long provided free preventative and proactive services to those with limited access to health care.

What's new: physicians in St. Rita's Internal Medicine residency program recently joined the HealthWise Mobile Clinic to assist Northwest Ohio residents.

Glen Oaks President Dr. David H. Devier has been chosen by the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) as the recipient of the 2021 Central Regional Chief Executive Officer Award. He will be recognized during the 52nd Annual ACCT Leadership Congress, in San Diego in mid-October.

Devier, a native of Ada, Ohio, has worked in education for over 45 years and has served as the president of Glen Oaks since January, 2014. Prior to that he held leadership positions at: Clark State Community College in Springfield, Ohio; University of Cincinnati Clermont College in Batavia, Ohio; Owens Community College in Toledo, Ohio; and Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio.
