But they’re also portable distractions that we carry in our pockets, set on desks, bring to dinner, and integrate into nearly every aspect of our lives. One hundred and three years ago this week, the Administration Building at Ohio Northern University burned. In the early morning of Tuesday, November 6, 1913, the campus landmark caught fire and just a shell remained a few hours later.

Despite the efforts of students and faculty to rescue documents, records and military trophies, the vast majority was lost.

The building was rebuilt the same year and renamed Hill Memorial. It remains a familiar Ada edifice along Main Street.

Area farmers are taking advantage of all the sunshine available to harvest their corn crops. The end of Daylight Saving Time has skies darkening earlier and some farmers working in the fields well after sunset.

According to the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), Ohio's corn harvest is at 53%, which is below average for this time of year. USDA NASS attributes a wet October to the slower corn harvest, but drier weather is allowing farmers to catch up.
