Statue unveiled Tuesday

The Martin Luther King, Jr. sculpture is in place and all is in readiness for the Tuesday ceremony commemorating Dr. King’s address here 50 years ago in 1968. The unveiling of the bronze sculpture will take place during a program that begins at 10:30 a.m. in the area between Taft Memorial and the Law Building. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held in English Chapel. The forecast calls for 31 degrees and windy, but dry, at that hour. Bernard Lafayette, a protege of Dr. King, is the featured speaker. The public is invited to the occasion.
