FROM WWW.ONU.EUD/NEWS__Joey Green initially joined the Ada-Liberty EMS to boost his resume for medical school. After a few months on the squad, however, the Ohio Northern University student realized he thrived in the trauma care environment. He promptly switched his biology/pre-med major to nursing.

“Becoming an EMT changed my whole mindset and direction in life,” he said. “My dream job is to become a Life Flight nurse, although I may be too tall for the helicopter!”

In observance of National Donate Life Month, OhioHealth Hardin Memorial Hospital partnered with Lifeline of Ohio to host a flag-raising ceremony, bringing together caregivers, donor families and transplant recipients to reflect on the lasting impact of organ, eye and tissue donation.

MEDIA RELEASE__The Hardin County Community Foundation has announced the following 165 grants made on Tuesday, April 21.

The Hardin County Community Foundation on Tuesday approved the awarding of $426,000 in grants and scholarships through its annual program.
The Grant Committee reported there were 151 grant requests with 114 fully funded and 37 partially funded.
The foundation plans to have grant checks in the mail to recipients by June 1
The funds are generated through earnings on the foundation’s assets.
The organizations, projects and amounts awarded are as follows:

MEDIA RELEASE__The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife confirmed that 40 white-tailed deer taken during the 2025-26 hunting season tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD).
 
A total of 6,617 deer were tested for CWD. Positive CWD samples were detected in Allen, Crawford, Hancock, Hardin, Marion, and Wyandot counties.
