PAULDING - The visiting Ada baseball team made the long trip to Paulding and fell 9-2 in the Northwest Conference finale Monday evening in a makeup contest.
The Bulldogs dropped to 6-12 overall and finished 1-7 in the NWC following the defeat. The Panthers improved to 15-6 and ended up 7-1 in the NWC with the win, putting them second behind state-ranked Lincolnview.
Ada trailed 4-0 after three innings, but plated two runs in the top of the fourth to cut the deficit in half.
Paulding responded with a run in the home fourth, then pushed across four more in the bottom of the fifth to seal the outcome.
Babies will no longer be delivered at Bluffton Hospital.
Instead, labor and delivery services, which moved to Findlay in December due to the covid-19 pandemic, will remain in Findlay.

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) will maintain the consolidation of labor and delivery services to the Findlay main campus. Bluffton Hospital labor and delivery services temporarily closed in December of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ada elementary teacher, Barth Montel, was recognized Friday by Quest Federal Credit Union, along with one teacher from each of the schools in Hardin County, as Hardin County’s Teachers of the Year.
The ceremony was accompanied by a luncheon at Ada’s, Viva Mari Restaurant.
According to Meri Skilliter, Ada superintendent, “Mr. Montel was generous with his time and expertise, helping colleagues learn more about maximizing apps and programs and platforms so they could best engage students remotely.
“He spent the first semester, switching job assignments with aplomb, to accommodate online option students.
The Ada baseball team was seeded 10th at the 13-team Coldwater Div. IV district tournament drawing Sunday.
Ada (6-12, 1-6 NWC) will visit sixth-seeded Ft. Recovery (6-14, 3-6 MAC) Tuesday, May 18 at 5 p.m. in first round sectional action.
The Ada/FR winner will advance to the second round Thursday, May 20 vs. the winner between fifth-seeded Crestview (10-7) and 12th seed New Knoxville (1-17).
That second round survivor will move onto the district semifinals.
The district semis will be at Coldwater on May 26. The district finals are slated for Friday evening, May 28.
Bulldog girls fall at Paulding By Cort Reynolds
PAULDING - The Ada softball team made the long trip to Paulding and lost 10-4 after an hour-long rain delay in Northwest Conference softball play Friday evening.
The Lady Bulldog record fell to 10-11 overall and 1-6 in the NWC with the defeat. The Panther girls improved to 17-3 and 5-2 in the NWC with the victory.
"We hung with them most of the game and our defense kind of let us down late in the game," said Ada head coach Rebecca Dicke. "They had a few singles drop in.
"We have to get a few more hits and play tighter defense," she added.
